Update on Link to Hope Shoeboxes

By Fiona Baxter

As we look for the summer sunshine – which has been a bit hit and miss this year – behind the scenes activity is getting into gear in preparation for sending shoeboxes to those living in poverty and need in Eastern Europe!

High Ongar Parish has gifted many hundreds of shoeboxes full of love over the years, and this is one Christmas activity that must start in the summer because of the logistics of sending shoeboxes to Romania, Moldova, Ukraine and Bulgaria.

So, we encourage everyone who can help with the campaign to start preparing now for Christmas! Can you help? We need empty shoeboxes.  (Preferred size is 18 x 10 x 30cm.   Large boot boxes knock our calculations for filling packing crates.)  We need toiletries, men’s gloves, small soft toys and much more.

Further details and ideas of what to send are available on the website of the charity through which we ensure that our shoeboxes reach those in need –  Link to Hope .

Packing of Shoeboxes will be in late October and early November.  Any queries please phone me on, 01277 899342.
