Brentwood Schools Christian Worker Trust

I am a Church Rep for BSCWT at St Mary’s Church High Ongar. My aim is to liaise with the team and pass on all the fantastic work that BSCWT do in Brentwood and the surrounding areas.

The work of BSCWT involves:

  • Lunch time clubs in 7 schools.
  • Assemblies in over 25 schools.
  • Easter and Christmas workshops, supporting pupils pastorally in 6 schools.
  • “It’s Your Move” lessons for year 6 pupils: exploring the changes, challenges and choices of starting Secondary school.
  • Lifespace: Two Lifespace events in the summer term, one for the first time with older students at Grove House School, to help with the transition to college/leaving school.
  • The second part of the Interview Practise Careers Days for year 10 students at Shenfield School. Both events went very well with about 170 students taking part overall.
  • Schools Work Sunday 2020

For the last few years, they have encouraged local churches to mark an annual “Schools Work Sunday” as a way of celebrating, encouraging and praying for the work that is done by Christian groups and individual Christians serving schools in different ways.

Our own work with the Harmony Club deserves a mention. Harmony – the weekly bible and craft club for children at High Ongar Primary School – has been going for many years with thanks to Jo for her hard work in making this happen. Around 20 children attend every week.
