Senior Citizens: Don’t be lonely in Ongar!

By Katherine Garner

Is it Ongar’s best kept secret? Monday afternoons at 2pm and the door of St James ‘ Church, in Marden Ash, is thrown open and all are invited for tea, biscuits, good company and conversation. It’s an opportunity to get out of the house, meet new people, and make new friends.

As well as the regular weekly community cafe the group also enjoy special events put on by church members such as Easter, Harvest and Christmas Teas, and activities such as collecting items for the Link to Hope Shoebox Appeal, and the Harlow Foodbank.

The Harvest Tea is on 23rd September and all are encouraged to bring a tin of something, or dry groceries which will be given to the Harlow Foodbank. All welcome – just turn up anytime between 2pm – 4pm.
