Over the last few weeks a group of parishioners from St Mary’s have been replacing the old rotten gate and fencing.

First, they had to cut back a lot of overhanging greenery to get to the old fence and clear the ground in readiness for new post holes to be dug and a new gate to be hung.
After 4 days of hard work this is what they achieved!

So then it was decided that the whole length needed painting right up to the brick wall at the front of the church but sadly the original fencing was also covered in weeds and ivy.
It took 3 sessions to remove all the offending greenery and the group have now completed 2/3 of the painting. With 1/3 to go it’s been a BIG task but there’s been lots of compliments from the locals as they passed by.

A job well done by all which we will last many years to come.

A special mention to Keith and his wife who live opposite, next to the school. Keith helped the guys build the new fencing and provided extra tools, and they kept us hydrated with teas and coffees.
